DEMNA GVASALIA presented his first Haute Couture collection for Balenciaga, Yesterday in Paris, to rave reviews.Street mixed with Couture was the order of the day.In our featured image he introduced Look #59, the Watteau back morphed with a parka .The “Watteau back” is so called because of the French painter, Jean Antoine Watteau, who painted women wearing gowns in which the back is voluminous, with folds carried from the neck to the floor, without being held in at the waist. It was also called a “sack gown”, or “Robe a la Francaise”.This was our favorite and most advanced look, Taking Haute Couture into the next era. Kindly Discuss….
