Sarah burton is now designing clothes for women. Gone are the days when every piece in her collections was extreme couture . The “House Style” exhibition at Chatsworth House was the source of inspiration for this collection.
The beautiful results began with deconstructed, falling-apart raincoats over pink chiffon ruffled dresses. Quilts, and wallpaper prints inspired patchwork coats. Tailoring picked up English gentleman’s jackets, wool sweaters had Zipper details and embellished with pearl pins and medallions. Boots were studded and lucite heels had dried flowers floating in them giving the effect that if one has just exited an English country garden in a cloud of deconstructed tattered chiffon.
Alexander McQueen is available at Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue and at Ikram.
