DIOR HAUTE COUTURE SPRING SUMMER 2015 Five years ago, a Couturier wouldn’t dream of using polyester or plastic in a collections. Times have changed. David Bowie, the chameleon, inspired Dior Spring Summer haute couture. Therefore fabrication has changed and Couture has become more modern. Plastic and polyester, the ultra modern kind, of course, is de regieur. The first look on the catwalk was an embroidered guipure lace shift with a PVC coat and vinyl thigh high boots. CHANEL HAUTE COUTURE SPRING SUMMER 2015 The idea for the Chanel set came to Karl Lagerfeld in a dream and in a flash like most ideas comes to him. The set for the Chanel Haute Couture show is like no other. It seems to be from a distant planet, Planet Chanel perhaps. Planet Chanel is a planet where flowers and trees is of the electronic variety. In the show notes it states that it took 3 months for each flower to be made and each has it’s own machine. Upon commencement of the show the electronic garden was doused with Chanel branded water and each flower mechanically blooms. He will present his first collection, Haute Couture, in London on the 10th of January. This I hope will be John’s comeback to the world of fashion.
