Dior-HauteCouture_SpSummer2015
DIOR HAUTE COUTURE SPRING SUMMER 2015 Five years ago, a Couturier wouldn’t dream of using polyester or plastic in a collections. Times have changed. David Bowie, the chameleon, inspired Dior Spring Summer haute couture. Therefore fabrication has changed and Couture has become more modern. Plastic and polyester, the ultra modern kind, of course, is de regieur. The first look on the catwalk was an embroidered guipure lace shift with a PVC coat and vinyl thigh high boots. Times have changed. Today it is all about technologically advanced fabrics. Raf Simons went 60’s with short shifts and thigh high boots balanced with a dash of modernity. ...

DIOR SPRING SUMMER 2015

DIOR COUR CARRE’ DE LOURVE PARIS Editors and the press were greeted to the site of an uber modern mirrored tent that was erected in the center of the Cour Carre de Louvre. I was in awe at the combination of Modernism and antiquity. This summed up the collection Raf Simon showed today. Pieces based on 17th century redingotes with broderie Anglais and cuffs and also based on the Bar silhouette. White was the dominating color with lines of embroidery and sprigs of flowers embroidered at the seam or on the cuffs of coats and jackets and dresses. Color was introduced towards the middle of the show Saturated and voluminous. TWOmuchstyle has a re-see appointment on Tuesday and will report on details of...

THE ARTFUL SOLE

SPRINGS ARTISTIC ENDEAVOURS One of the top trends for spring summer 2014 is the influence of art on fashion led by the mega design houses of Celine, Dior and Prada. For these mega brands Fashion imitates art. At Celine with its painterly strokes and simple modern silhouettes, the shoes and accessories were the ones that ground the collection in its art reference. Namely Cubism. Celine presented shoes with a sphere heel and a skeletal rectangular heel and mules that retain that sculptural detail of a chunk of Marble and Malachite. Dior’s Dali inspired collection was all about surrealism. Drenched in acidic colors and morphed with space age shape and technology. The footbed of Dior’s shoes is equipped with memory foam technology, adding...
