SAINT LAURENT SPRING SUMMER 2017

SAINT LAURENT SPRING SUMMER 2017 Anthony Vaccarello newly minted version of Saint Laurent is that of Yves Saint Laurent in his youth. He revisited the smoking, the one shoulder dress, the single exposed breast and the use of Lame'. It was for the singular woman , the youthful Vaccarello woman . The woman about town. She goes to the best parties, she is probably Rihanna, a rock star or just a girl that's always in the spotlight. Look number 1, the dropped sleeve leather shirt is his input on the DNA of the new Saint Laurent woman. ...

The Fantastic Case of Gucci: Cruise 2017

Cruise 2017 is well underway with Gucci spearheading the forefront showing its collection in none other than Westminster Abbey. To say the collection is breathtaking would be a severe understatement; one look at it and it’s no surprise as to why the house’s superstar creative director Alessandro Michele is slated to earn the CFDA’s International Award June 6. The show opened with a bright, in-your-face, larger-than-life yellow plaid skirt paired with an equally flamboyant rainbow pullover, both featuring embroidered animals. Looks were everywhere, from sheer black, over the knee gothic lace dresses to men strutting down in white contrast colored jackets and acid wash denim. The references throughout were prolific, with Michele once more proving his celebrity status at the helm of...

THE PARIS HAUTE COUTURE

THE PARIS HAUTE COUTURE Haute Couture is the vehicle that drives the sale of perfume and accessories for all Couture houses. Therefore it’s the icing on the cake for many houses of Paris. First up is Dior, Without Raf Simons, of course. It is obvious that a group of twenty something young designers CANNOT design a couture collection much less a ready to wear collection. I’ve always stated that it takes experience to be a leader in this industry. It takes experience to be a relevant stylist, Editor, makeup artist or anything related to the fashion industry. We think that this is a temporary thing until the superstar designer is found . Therefore Dior was simply just another show on the Couture...

“Three Collections From LCM, You Need To Get Familiar With”

The year 2015 has come and gone and what better way to kick off the New Year than LCM? (That’s London Collections Men.) LCM was slated from the eighth through the eleventh with a particularly exciting showing during the latter half; impressive designers among the likes of J.W. Anderson, Alexander McQueen, and last but certainly not least, the iconic, longstanding house of Burberry all showed their latest menswear collections. It’s no secret that during a period of slowdown for some major players (yes, even Prada and Burberry are no longer immune to today’s incessant desire for novelty), menswear has absolutely thrived with seemingly no signs of letting up. While the exact cause for this rapid growth is debatable, we at TMS...

ALAIA’S NEW FRAGRANCE

ALAIA LAUNCHES NEW FRAGRANCE Before there was Herve Leger, there was AZZEDINE ALAIA. Alaia is the sole creator of the bandage dress; The style that created a million copycats. Azzedine Alaia, the master of drape and the man that plays fashion by his own rules, is launching his first fragrance. Aptly named ALAIA. He does not show on the Paris calendar, but after all Editors have departed the city of lights, he decides to have them all return, the most important ones of course, to view his collection. There is no better time for Alaia to foray into the beauty business. His brand is expanding worldwide. Perfume, as we all know, is big business and therefore Alaia’s entrance is long overdue. The...

Louis Vuitton Fall Winter 2015
Nicholas Ghesquiere presented his best collection to date. His first look out, a White fur chubby proves that great minds think alike. The chubby is one of falls top trends. Ghesquiere showed sleek glossy knits with mutton sleeves. Mini trunks in copper, clear Lucite and aluminum is the new accessory. Handbags and shoes were studded and will become an instant hit when they arrive at the Louis Vuitton Stores and LouisVutton.com this fall....

Givency Fall Winter 2015

Givency Fall Winter 2015
"Victorian Cholas" was the source of Riccardo Tisci's collection or was it "Death Becomes Her" morning attire from the Costume Institute's exhibition? Either way, Givenchy gave us kiss curls, braids, septum and face jewelry. The collection was a dark brooding one complete with the silhouette that he loves. The catholic cross was stitched into the bodice of a dress that was corseted and worn with peplum jackets, and one of the top trends for fall, the dress over the cropped pants that has been seen on the runways from New York to Milan and now Paris. GIVENCHY IS AVAILABLE IN CHICAGO AT: BLAKE 212 West Chicago Avenue, 312-202-0047 IKRAM 53 West Huron, 312-587-1000 SAKS FIFTH AVENUE 700 N. Michigan Avenue, 312-944-6500 NEIMAN MARCUS 737 N. Valentino Fall Winter 2015

Valentino-Fall-Winter2015
Multi- Color Lace Ever since the reigns at Valentino has been helmed by Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli the Label Valentino has been basking in the spotlight. In my opinion that’s what a dose of youth brings to the table. The collection started out with black and white stripes and checked looks, which were all simple and beautiful. Next, the collection morphed into black fisherman style sweaters and full skirts, one of the top trends for fall. Things began to unfold at look 12 with a short A-line Broderie Anglaise black dress, then multi-color lace dresses followed by coats with lace embroidered over cashmere and printed multi-color coats over lace dresses. The runway presentation was...
