MOMENTS FROM THE SPRING SUMMER COLLECTION, PARIS

MOMENTS FROM PARIS The Spring 2014 Collections in Paris was filled with that Kodak moment, Etched in time by TWOmuchstyle. It was a show on the runway as well as in the streets of Paris. In this post we bring you Snippets of the comings and goings of the fashion pack, dressed in this season and next seasons collection which is not even in stores as of yet. The Italian clothes peg, Anna Dello Russo changes her wardrobe about 3 times daily to accommodate the bloggers and paparazzi that await her entrance and exit from each show. Then again, there exist your wannabes the discouragingly numerous amount of attendees who literally shows up to make a scene, dressed in their inconspicuous looks...

Haute Couture’s youth quake

COUTURE GOES POP Youth is a wonderful thing. For the first time in couture history, designers presented sporty sneaker in a realm of stiletto and lady like heels. Maybe the point that is meant to be made is that Haute Couture is young, hip and fresh for 2014 and beyond. Raf Simons of Dior and Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel presented sport like concoctions. At Dior, their version was embroidered with multicolored flowers and made of a mesh like fabric, like the cutout organza dresses they were shown with. At Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld sneakers were made of tweed and Python, veiled in lace and embroidered with pearls. The press release states that it took 30 hours to make. A Chanel ready to wear...

Hunger Games

Alexander McQueen at the Hunger Games As they say in the world of fashion, “imitation is the sincerest form of flattery”. Such is the case with the Wardrobe choices for Effy played by Elizabeth Banks, in the Hunger games “Catching Fire”. Alexander McQueen ruffled organza dress; Butterfly dress and white organza ruffled gown were all from the archives of Alexander McQueen Spring Summer 2010, Spring Summer 2011, and Fall Winter 2012. In all its ruffled organza glory, McQueen was clearly the star. The choices of shoes was from the Collection “Plato’s Atlantis” designed by Lee himself along with choices from the fall Winter 2012 collection designed by Sarah Burton. It’s a pleasure to see Hollywood embrace high fashion, as high as...

THE STATE OF FASHION

The state of Fashion Its December as I write, the fall runway collections have recently been delivered and it has already been reduced by 40 % at major department stores like Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom etc. The proprietors at Blake are complaining that a particular Givenchy runway dress has just been delivered 3 weeks ago and its already been marked down at Saks. This is the plight of fashion in today’s fast paced world of multiple designer collections. For any particular major designer, such as, Alexander Wang of Balenciaga, there is the Fall Collection, Pre fall Collection, Resort, Spring Collection, Pre Spring collection, Capsule collection, Accessories, to name a few, not including haute Couture spring Summer and Fall Winter,...

Moschino

Change at Moschino Ikram hosted a 30th anniversary party for Moschino at her namesake boutique last week. It was just announced today that Jeremy Scott would be replacing Rosella Jardini who has been at the brand since 1994. Moschino has envelope the epitome of whimsy, fun happy clothes for the woman who loves fashion. We love Rosella Jardini with the assistance of Bill Shapiro, a local with whom I went to school at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and we also love Moschino. You’ve got big shoes to fill Mr. Scott. Moschino Milan is not New York shock and awe, Its Fashion injected with fun, youth and a certain Italian energy that was in the DNA of Rosella Jardini. We...
