Best of Oscar Red Carpet Fashion 2013

OscarFashion2013The Oscar red carpet is no doubt the most highly anticipated part of tonight festivities and the stars definitely brought out the couture. Some of the stand out tonight has to be Charlize Theron and Jennifer Lawrence, both wear Dior Haute Couture. Jennifer opted for a white strapless brocade dress with a large dropped waist skirt, but the best part of her outfit may have to be the long strand diamond necklace that drapes over her back. Charlize Theron also went with a white strapless dress with a peplum bodice, the dress highlight her tall statuesque figure.

While Charlize and Jennifer choose to wear the color white, Naomi Watts and Jessica Chastain choose Armani Prive embellished dresses for the walk down the red carpet. Jessica wore a beaded blush number that complimented her beautiful milky skin. Naomi went for a pewter sequin dress with a dramatic neckline. This dress was tailored to perfection.

Anne Hathaway and Les Miz costar Amanda Seyfried both choose pastel shades with different effect. Anne surprised everyone by going for a minimal column Prada dress in soft pink. Combined with the short hair and simple silhouette, she seems to channel the late Audrey Hepburn. Anne’s costar Amanda Seyfried don a Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen pastel purple halter dress with gold embroideries. Both ladies looking gorgeous in their own way.

Few went for color this year, a stand out in color goes to Kerry Washington in a strapless MiuMiu dress with an embellished bodice. The coral/red color glows against her beautiful skin tone.

There were many beautiful dresses on the red carpet, but it seems everyone played it pretty safe. Opting for soft colors and metallic and simple silhouette. Unfortunately, tonight’s red carpet lack a high fashion moment like the Tom Ford dress and cape worn by Gwyneth Paltrow or even farther back when Nicole Kidman wore the chartreuse Dior Haute Couture in 1997.
