Balmain

Balmain Men’s Fall 2014 The Balmain label is exclusive, expensive and is perfect in every sense of the word. For fall Balmain’s creative director Olivier Rousteing was influenced by the photographer Peter Beard, the one who discovered Iman herding her goats, as the story goes. The truth is that Iman was discovered walking home from the University she attends. Rousteing was attracted to the cross cultures Beard represented, East Africa and the American culture. The collection was all about Safari green, khaki and Camel with a few animal print namely leopard, and Zebra. Leather and suede Bombers worn with dropped crotched Jodhpur is the quintessential Balmain look. The look that has attracted celebrities and clients with a deep pocket. Balmain is available at...

Dries Van Noten mens Fall 2014

DRIES VAN NOTEN MENS FALL 2014 Dries Van Noten presented a modern Renaissance collection for fall filled with all the ancient colors and accouterments of that era. Gone are his signature embroideries and prints and now replaced by colors, tie-dyed and dip dyed. Blues, pinks, yellows and greens were his colors of choice all place thru rigorous treatments to appear re purposed. Lace, pearls, Bondage straps and dyed fox scarves were his choice of embellishments. Maybe, his reason for a drastic change in his design esthetics is that he was influenced by his own retrospective to be shown at the Musee des Arts Decoratifs in Paris in the beginning of March. I will be reporting on that one. Dries Van Noten is available...

Saint Laurent mens Fall 2014

SAINT LAURENT FALL 2014 Hedi Slimane is at the top of his game; the designer is ahead of it all. He has done leopard and stovepipes when no one hasn’t even taught of it yet. For fall his collection still had a few stovepipes yet again but being a good businessman he also showed some relaxed. Jackets and coats were a bit boxy in silhouette and shown in Lame’, leather, wool, houndstooth, mohair, tweed and glittery herringbone. The collection still resonates that California rock and roll esthetic. The collection will be available at the newly opened Saint Laurent boutique on Rush St. and at Barneys New York. “TELL THEM I SENT YOU” ...

Lanvin men’s fall

LANVIN MEN'S FALL 2014 It’s no secret that I am a lover of all things Lanvin. This fall was all about the coat, which is a top trend for, fall in every imaginable silhouette, touches of fur as a trim and Elbaz’s color palette. Elbaz is a master of dusty muted colors, which he mixes brilliantly. Coats were boxy, belted, zipped and all worn with trailing cashmere scarves in contrasting muted colors. He showed us the new way to wear a suit, with a pop of color worn with shoes from a Crayola box. We love that idea for fall. Lanvin will be available at the Lanvin boutique and at Barneys New York “TELL THEM I SENT YOU” ...

Junya Watanabe man Fall 2014

JUNYA WATANABE MENS FALL 2014 Junyas collection for fall was an ode to all things English Sartorial. The top half of each look was a quintessential British arc type namely the Edwardian, the dandy, the British bespoke gentleman etc. The bottom half was relegated to Junyas patchwork denim that was a big hit for fall that was shown in the women’s collection. At TWOmuchstyle, we love the combination of simplicity and complexity. A clean simple jacket with a very busy avante garde bottom. It makes for an interesting look, one that is not overpowering by any means. This is the precaution one takes when wearing Junya Watanabe and Comme des Garcons. Fashion, in small dosage. Junya Watanabe is available at Barneys New...

DIOR Haute Couture

DIOR HAUTE COUTURE If Christian Dior himself was designing this collection this is exactly what he would show. Raf Simons has managed to make Haute Couture fresh and modern and at the same time placing Dior at the center of fashion sphere. He showed a textured sixties style collection that was light as air with pailette like cutouts on airy organzas. Shoes had harness like details and the Embroidered Couture trainers were introduced, something that only Raf can conjure. Dior has become quite exclusive as of late. They’ve tightened their reigns on the media. Any stylist can no longer pull Dior from their local stockist, all requests must go thru their Press attaché in New York. All in the efforts to keep...
